Brief description of the tooling options you may find on used equipment:

Magnetic Tooling

ALL
(Except VISTA)

Standard Tooling on all automatic machines. Requires 81mm height magnetic pins, small and large diameter tips. Readily available on the used market.
VISTA requires 41mm (AutoFlex Height) magnetic pins.

AutoFlex

MK1, GS,
GSX, LT,
HOZ01, INF

210 pins in a grid over 20 x 20" table, approx. 35mm pitch spacing. Great for automatic tooling for single sided boards. For populated bottom side, pitch is too wide, if pins need to drop to avoid parts, therefore still require magnetic pins. Pins are 41+/- mm but are specific size (A,B,C,D,E) to match the build of the table. AutoFlex Height Pins are hard to come by on used market, and expensive from OEM.

Manuflex

GS, LT, GSX

Big "box" 12 x 17" with holes on 10mm pitch spacing. Pins with 3mm and 1mm tips are placed in grid to match board. Box is then placed in the machine. Large and Cumbersome, never met anyone who kept using it after the firest month or so. Also availabe as VACUFLEX, same thing but also includes "walls" to build vacuum box and attach vacuum tooling hose (if available on machine).

Fine Pitch AutoFlex
(FPA)

GSX

About 1800 pins in a grid over 20 x 20" table, approx 10mm pitch. Good when it works, a bear to program and there is no facility for pins to drop if part is hit. Again, nice if it's working, but a (literal) mileof pneumatic hose makes it "challenging" to troubleshoot. Same Magnetic pin height requirement as AutoFlex.

FormFlex

LT, GSX,
HOZ(ALL), INF

OEM's first foray into "conformal tooling"... Best I can say about FormFlex...
IT'S CRAP!!!

Grid-Lok

GSX, LT, HOZ, INF

Standard setup works on all machines with 81mm tooling height. Recommend running in "manual" unless on Typhoon class with the software interface. But it works great in either mode.
